Epson Takes on Laser and Cartridge Printers with Two New EcoTank Models Built for Hybrid Work

The ET-2920 and ET-4900 promise up to 90% savings on printing costs and thousands of pages straight out of the box no cartridges required.

Epson has launched two new additions to its EcoTank lineup the ET-2920 and ET-4900 targeting the small office and home office (SOHO) market with a cartridge-free alternative that undercuts both entry-level laser printers and traditional inkjet models on cost, convenience, and environmental impact.

At the heart of both devices is Epson's refillable ink tank system, which replaces disposable cartridges with high-capacity reservoirs that come pre-filled from the box. Each model ships with enough ink to print up to 3,600 black and 6,500 colour pages, delivering savings of up to 90% on running costs compared to standard cartridge-based devices and avoiding the expensive toner replacements and drum maintenance that make laser ownership more costly over time.

The **ET-2920** is pitched at home office users, students, and freelancers seeking an affordable, no-fuss everyday printer. It handles print, scan, and copy at 11 pages per minute in black and 6 in colour, with wireless connectivity and a compact footprint designed for space-conscious environments.

"In the SOHO space, customers are increasingly frustrated with the ongoing cost and maintenance associated with both entry-level laser printers and traditional cartridge models. With EcoTank, we've fundamentally changed that experience delivering ultra-low running costs, fewer interruptions and a simpler, more reliable way to print."

— Phil Daidone, Senior Product Manager, Epson Australia

The ET-4900 builds on that foundation with features suited to busier small business workflows. It adds fax capability, an automatic document feeder for multi-page scanning, and Ethernet connectivity alongside Wi-Fi making it a genuine office-grade workhorse at an accessible price point.

Both models are designed to minimise downtime, a critical consideration for SOHO users operating without dedicated IT support. Lower power consumption and the elimination of plastic cartridge waste also give both printers a meaningful sustainability edge over laser alternatives.

The Epson EcoTank ET-2920 (RRP $479) and ET-4900 (RRP $499) are available now at www.epson.com.au and through retail stores nationwide.
