Milestone Updates XProtect and Arcules to Simplify Video Security Management
XProtect 2026 R2 adds incident context and centralised administration, while Arcules strengthens cloud resilience, secure connectivity and operational visibility across distributed environments.
Milestone Systems has announced XProtect 2026 R2 and its autumn 2026 updates for Arcules, introducing capabilities designed to help organisations manage expanding video surveillance environments across on-premises, cloud and hybrid deployments.
The updates address a growing challenge for security and operations teams: making sense of increasing volumes of video, connected devices and site-level information while maintaining system reliability and simplifying administration.
XProtect 2026 R2 introduces features intended to improve incident response and operational continuity. Its Maps capability brings cameras, alarms, connected devices and live video together in geographic and floor-plan views, helping operators locate incidents and identify nearby cameras. The feature is designed for complex environments such as airports, hospitals and large campuses and will be available in future XProtect Smart Client releases.
Sticky Notes allow teams to attach colour-coded operational instructions, site-specific information and shift-handover details to camera views. Administrators can manage these centrally, helping preserve critical knowledge across shifts.
For system administrators, Server Logs consolidates audit, system and rule logs to simplify troubleshooting, monitoring and compliance reporting. Permission Inheritance automatically applies existing access rules to newly added cameras and devices, reducing repetitive configuration as installations grow.
“Our customers are managing more cameras, more sites and more information than ever, and they need that complexity to work for them rather than against them.” — Andrew Burnett, CTO, Milestone Systems
Through Milestone Care Plus, XProtect Remote Manager provides secure, browser-based oversight of multi-site deployments, delivering system health updates to help teams identify and prioritise maintenance actions.
Meanwhile, Arcules Cloud Backup for Edge Gateways adds off-site video retention using a lower-resolution secondary stream to limit bandwidth and storage demands. Integration with Triton Sensors combines environmental and occupancy data with video and event information, enabling sensor-triggered alarms and video-linked events.
Other Arcules enhancements include automatic encryption between gateways and supported cameras, faster local video streaming, safer upgrades, improved diagnostics and role-based alarm access for hybrid deployments.
Together, the releases strengthen Milestone’s focus on making video systems easier to operate, secure and scale as organisations demand greater visibility across increasingly distributed environments.
