Karnataka Cybersecurity Centre Organises IISc Workshop to Strengthen MSME Cyber Resilience

CySecK brings government, industry and security experts together to address emerging threats, regulatory compliance and affordable cybersecurity measures for smaller businesses.

Held as part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the workshop focused on helping MSMEs understand emerging cyber threats, navigate regulatory requirements and adopt practical security measures to protect their digital assets and business operations.

The event brought together government representatives, industry leaders, entrepreneurs and cybersecurity specialists. The inaugural session was attended by Vasantha Kumar P, IAS, Director, MSME, Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Karnataka, as chief guest, alongside representatives from KASSIA, Peenya Industries Association, industry and CySecK.

“Strengthening cybersecurity preparedness among MSMEs is essential to protecting business operations and building trust in an increasingly digital economy.”

Technical sessions addressed the changing cybersecurity and regulatory landscape, risk management across cloud and artificial intelligence environments, defence strategies and cost-effective security measures suited to MSMEs. Experts from CySecK, Syntrust AI, Gauntlet Technologies, Cloudflare and Innavoto led the sessions, connecting cybersecurity challenges with practical approaches for businesses.

For MSMEs, cybersecurity preparedness is increasingly important as business processes and services become more digitally dependent. Limited resources and specialist expertise can make it difficult for smaller organisations to implement comprehensive security programmes. The workshop sought to encourage appropriate security practices and improve awareness of the risks associated with digital operations.

The programme concluded with a valedictory address by Ranjeet Mishra, Centre Head, CySecK, who emphasised sustained collaboration among government, industry and cybersecurity stakeholders to strengthen the resilience of Karnataka’s MSME ecosystem.

Through initiatives such as this workshop, CySecK aims to promote cybersecurity awareness and encourage businesses to adopt measures that safeguard operations, protect digital assets and build confidence in the digital economy.
