PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips Professional Displays and complementary solutions, has installed a state-of-the-art Philips Urban LED wall at the reigning La Liga and Copa del Rey champions’Ciutat Esportiva training campus.
Together with FC Barcelona’s commitment to installing advanced and sustainable technologies in its spectacular new Spotify Camp Nou stadium –for which Philips Professional Displays is the Official Digital Display Supplier –the Club also prides itself on developing and implementing the latest training methods and innovations, with an ever-growing emphasis on technology to help stay on top.
The bigger picture
As one of the world’s most successful football clubs, boasting a trophy cabinet filled with 28 x La Liga titles, 5 x UEFA Champions League and 32 x Copa Del Rey titles – and more – the foundations of FC Barcelona’s achievements, from developing the next generation of talent to advancing the abilities of the world’s most elite professionals, are established at the Ciutat Esportiva.
Ahead of the 2025/2026 La Liga season, FC Barcelona sought new opportunities to upgrade Pitch 1, with the introduction of a state-of-the-art display system to bring new visual capabilities and detailed analysis tothe touchline for both coaching and playing staff.
Now known as Camp Tito Vilanova, Pitch 1is the first team’s official training area, featuringan 11-a-side (105 x 68 metres) pitch, a 4,643 m2 warm-up area, anda 1,400 capacity terrace.
To support their vision, the Club teamed up with PPDS, together with local LED integration expert, LED Dream, for the project, installing a5.5 x 3 metrePhilips Urban LED 7000 Series LED wall located just beyond the touchline, tailored precisely around the club’s night and day needs.
Més Que Un Club
With 6,000 nits of high brightness, the 3.9pp Philips Urban LED 7000 Series LED wall was the standout choice for this exciting project, capable of standing up to the rigours of all weather and lighting conditions in the Catalonian capital, whether heavy rain, direct sunlight or floodlight glare. The 7000 Series also includes an IP66 rating, resistant to dust and corrosive airborne salt spray from the nearby Mediterranean sea.
Mirroring FC Barcelona’s famous ‘Més que un Club’ (More than a Club) motto, the Philips Urban LED 7000 Series (44HUL7039DP//00) is more than just a screen, providing coaching staff with multiple live views of the action, together with detailedrealtime player analysis and instant reviews/replay capabilities.
The Philips Urban LED 7000 Series installation was completed efficiently and on time, with minimal disruption to the team’s training schedule and seamless integration into the stadium infrastructure.
