RRP Electronics Becomes First Indian Semiconductor Exporter Under Government Mission
In a significant milestone for India’s semiconductor industry, RRP Electronics Ltd has become the first Indian company to export packaged semiconductors under the Government of India’s Semiconductor Mission. The Maharashtra-based firm has shipped its first consignment, valued at Rs. 6.51 crore, to a European customer, marking a breakthrough for the country’s ambitions in high-tech manufacturing.
RRP Electronics operates a fully established Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) facility and is expanding rapidly under the Rs. 12,035 crore state-approved Phase-I plan. The company’s successful proof of concept and its collaboration with AMB Taiwan are expected to boost its offerings significantly.
A team from AMB Taiwan is scheduled to arrive in the second week of April to finalize the proof of concept for SIM card modules, which will open immediate market opportunities. In addition to SIM modules, RRP Electronics is also focusing on the production of IGBT and MOSFET products.
“We are proud to lead the way in semiconductor exports and contribute to India’s vision of self-reliance in technology,” said Rajendra K. Chodankar, Chairman & CEO of RRP Electronics.
The company is simultaneously working on setting up Deca Technologies’ advanced packaging foundry to produce components for Apple iPhones. It is also developing an Overhead Transport (OHT) facility, a key requirement to qualify for business with a multinational company through Deca Technologies, USA.
Beyond these developments, RRP Electronics is making inroads into the analog device sector, particularly targeting the automotive industry. This expansion is expected to create numerous job opportunities, reinforcing Maharashtra’s position as a semiconductor hub and contributing to India’s growth under the Make in India initiative.
With these advancements, RRP Electronics is positioning itself as a leader in India’s semiconductor ecosystem, demonstrating the country’s growing capabilities in high-tech exports.
