A social engineering attack known as “vishing” (also known as “voice phishing”) involves calling the target and requesting information. In order to deceive victims into disclosing personal information or taking action on the attacker’s behalf, these callers pose as representatives of financial institutions like banks or credit card firms and utilize psychological techniques.
A screen-sharing programme like AnyDesk or TeamViewer from the Google Play Store is frequently requested by the attacker in order to access the victim’s device. Recently, we have also noticed an increase in the prevalence of SMS forwarder trojans. The level of access to a user’s financial and personal information might vary depending on the banking trojans and RATs that are used. We anticipate that threat actors will launch attacks using this malware in 2023 as opposed to screen-sharing programmes.
