Manufacturers Association of Information Technology (MAIT) along with its industry representatives held a meeting with Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and other senior Government officials to discuss the way forward on the growth of the electronics and IT manufacturing industry in India. The meeting, held in Vigyan Bhavan was attended by several MAIT members including HP, Dell, Lenovo, Netweb Technologies, CISCO, Rosenberger and many more.
During the meeting, MAIT had put forth several recommendations in-line with the industry’s expectations that aim to help the industry develop an export-led manufacturing ecosystem and gain global importance for the same. The recommendations included Offering production linked export incentive, Leveraging India’s geo-political influence & FTA influence with countries to accept BIS & TEC standards as sufficient to access their markets, and Identification of sub-sectors where India should lead the development of standards like 5G, Medical Electronics, Cyber Security and Data Com.
Mr. Nitin Kunkolienker, President, MAIT said, “We have been working closely with the ministry to remove any bottlenecks in the growth path of the industry so that electronics and IT manufacturing can flourish in the country. We have had a very promising discussion with Hon’ble Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad which has resulted in specific action points, in line with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative which can help in significantly strengthening the sector.”
