Veeam Appoints Gil Vega as CISO

He will help company scale internal security and compliance processes and successfully navigate the complex and evolving Cloud Data Management market as customers strive to secure and protect critical data

Veeam Software named Gil Vega as CISO).  Vega comes from CME Group, where he was designated as MD & CISO. He was also working with the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement in Washington, DC as the Associate CIO & CISO.

Besides, he has held various cybersecurity leadership posts within the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Intelligence Community. Vega will report to Bill Largent, Veeam Chief CEO, and will be part of the company’s executive management team.

With more than 22 years’ experience, Vega is a security expert through and through. Prior to his career in financial services, Vega was a member of the U.S. Federal Government’s Senior Executive Service and served as the Associate Chief Information Officer & CISO for the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement in Washington, DC.

Vega holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Information Systems & Information Assurance, is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having participated in combat operations in Operations Just Cause, Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
