Treebo to promote travel-based learning among underprivileged kids

Tech-enabled budget hotel start-up, Treebo has partnered with several NGOs engaged in welfare of underprivileged kids across the country, including Salaam Baalak Trust, Divya Deepa Charitable Trust, IDEA Foundation, and CHETNA to host educational excursions for these kids every year.

Termed “Junior Checks-in”, this effort will involve kids staying at Treebo hotels and visiting museums, zoos, planetaria, and other such places that offer fun learning opportunities.

The company organized the first of such excursions for the children studying at Divya Deepa Charitable Trust, Mysore. 33 kids aged 7 to 15 years were selected based on their performance in a travel-themed painting competition. The selected kids were taken on a 2-day trip to Bengaluru city and lodged as special guests at a Treebo hotel. The trip included sightseeing in Bengaluru, a visit to the Bannerghatta National Park, a magic show, puppet show, and a visit to the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum.

Commenting on this initiative, Ananth Kumar, Founder, Divya Deepa Charitable Trust, said, “This is an excellent initiative. All of our kids are from a rural background and they never get an opportunity to experience different environments the way they did this time. It was a great learning and fun experience for them.”

Sidharth Gupta, Co-founder, Treebo, said, “We firmly believe that travel can play a great role in the learning and development of any individual, especially that of kids at this age. Junior Checks-in is aimed at helping these kids expand their learning horizons by giving them an opportunity to see the world beyond their immediate surroundings and learn from it. We are excited about this initiative and look forward to host hundreds of kids during their excursions.”
