Microsoft Announces Trade-in-Scheme for SMBs

Customers can sell their legacy hardware with the option to use the proceeds towards obtaining monthly credit on Windows Azure

Microsoft has launched a Trade-In Scheme for Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) in India. Through this scheme, customers can sell their legacy hardware with the option to use the proceeds towards obtaining monthly credit on Windows Azure, based on an upfront initial commitment, informed the release.

Karan Bajwa, MD, Microsoft India, said, “SMBs are the force drivers of the Indian economy and require agile, flexible and scalable infrastructure to help manage their costs well. This is a fantastic opportunity for SMBs to get value for their legacy hardware and at the same time leap to the cloud using Windows Azure. This transition will help them reduce maintenance costs and get future ready on a modern platform.”

The company said that Windows Azure is an open and flexible platform on the cloud that allows users to build, deploy and manage applications on a Microsoft-managed data centre. Once SMBs have opted for Windows Azure usage based on the exchange value of their legacy hardware, they will be able to work with any of Microsoft’s Azure circle partners to migrate and expand their infrastructure on Windows Azure. The Trade-In scheme is yet another step in a series of initiatives that Microsoft has undertaken to enable SMBs to leverage the opportunity and value that cloud offers.

Meetul Patel, GM (Small and Medium Businesses), Microsoft India, said, “The cloud model provides businesses significant benefits in terms of economics, agility and focus. With the new Trade-In scheme, SMBs will now have the opportunity to jumpstart their transition to the cloud and reap significant benefits.”

The release further said that Microsoft is committed to the SMB segment in India. Through its 10,000 strong partner network, Microsoft is reaching SMBs in over 250 cities in India.
