ManageEngine Launches Free Disk Monitor Lite

Monitors capacity on VMware, Hyper-V, local and remote Windows servers

ManageEngine has launched Free Disk Monitor Lite. Available immediately, the free disk-monitoring tool lets IT admins in SMBs and large enterprises monitor the disk space on an unlimited number of Windows servers, VMware and Hyper-V hosts.

The new Free Disk Monitor Lite enables agile management by allowing the IT admins in SMBs to monitor disk space on unlimited remote machines from a single console announced the press release. The monitored disk parameters on Windows servers include used and free space against the total disk space as well as disk read/write rates. Besides the disk space, this free tool also monitors the top ten folders and top ten files by size on the localhost. It also enables the admins to drill down each folder and monitor the subfolders and files.

Free Disk Monitor Lite lets virtual server admins monitor individual VMs for virtual machine disk (VMDK) file size, average disk reads/writes, and data store. Similarly, this free tool monitors virtual hard disk (VHD) file size and used and free disk space against the total disk capacity on the Hyper-V hosts.

“Visualisation of disk capacity on physical and virtual servers from a single console enables an admin to quickly identify capacity issues and free up or re-allocate resources,” said Vidya Vasu, head of ManageEngine Free Tools and Community. “This free tool helps them decide when some files or folders (like logs for example) can be compressed, or when they can be moved to an external storage.”
