India being a consumption market holds lot of promise in networking space. Digital India has increased the spending in networking space and it is expected to continue for some time. Some of the many initiatives by the government like Smart Cities, up-gradation of railways, highways, newer airports in smaller cities, new banking licenses, ESI hospitals, Wi-Fi on campus, emphasis on Domestic Tourism etc are expected to increase spending in the Networking space.
Demonetization has triggered the digitization wave and this has caused an increase in the online transactions. The network infrastructure thus needs to be upgraded to support the increased traffic efficiently. Growing number of startups require high band networks at reduced costs and we are seeing rapid transition from 10/100 to 1Gig and similarly from 1Gig to 10G. The best part is SMB/SME customers are opting for affordable high end technology; this is very encouraging for vendors in networking space. Other factors that are increasing spending on networking space are -State Governments undertaking surveillance, Wi-Fi, automated traffic lights and the like. Demand for Anytime Anywhere connectivity will lead to increase in deployment of wireless internet connectivity which will be met by deploying different methods like City/Village Wi-Fi or 4G connectivity. Agreeing to this, Sanjay Sehgal, V.P. SMB & Telecom Business, TP-Link India says, “With the thrust given by Govt. of India for digitization post demonetization and with GST ready for rollout in next quarter, I feel the Networking industry is looking forward to good business in 2017-18.”

Trends Shaping-up the Indian Network Hardware Space
The increase in mobility, voice and video consumption, combined with virtualization and the doubling of data every 2 years (‘2×2’), make it easy to see why Organizations prefer high bandwidth networks – in order to avoid bottlenecks. 33% of all SMB networks already used 10-Gigabit switching in early 2016; and 75% will be deploying 10 GB before the end of 2017. And 100% of SMBs (up to 500 employees) foresee the need to deploy this switching technology now or in the near future. According to Marthesh Nagendra, Country Manager, NETGEAR, India & SAARC , “Roti, Kapda, Makaan and Wi-Fi” is the new term now. Wi-Fi is more of a need than a luxury. The tremendous growth in India’s Hospitality industry and quality product offering has helped us to grow in this segment.”
