India’s market leader for fitness discovery online, Fitternity has become the first Indian company to be invited to pitch at the prestigious Google’s demo day (women’s edition) held in the tech giant’s Silicon Valley base this November. This edition will see 12 female-led start-ups from around the world pitch their businesses to over 100 investors, venture capitalists and judges at Google Headquarters.
Motwani’s relationship with Google goes back to 2015 where she represented her company at the Google Startup Bootcamp’s India batch. Recognised for their inventive methods of tackling, identifying and incentivising 3 distinct user buckets aka Fitness Sitter, Seeker and Hunter – the company is no newbie to awards and has fast assumed market leader status clocking over 75,000 total transactions (bookings & subscriptions) with 20x growth in last 18 months across 4 cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Pune.
Having previously raised seed capital worth USD 1.5 million from Exfinity Venture and Saha Fund (India’s first venture capital fund that is focused on businesses run by women entrepreneurs), the opportunities from this event could prove particularly significant for the company as it plans to raise more than USD 3 million over the next 4-6 months to fund its expansion across 20 top cities in India.
“We are indeed excited to be the only Indian Start-up to present at Google Demo Day – our vision is to make fitness a lifestyle choice for India that is convenient and affordable. We want to embed holistic health along with data science to develop a proactive approach to fitness that covers workout as well as eating healthy. Fitternity powers over 20,000 service providers including gyms, yoga studios, crossfit, trainers, healthy kitchens among others and we aim to take our model to India first and then to the world,” says Neha Motwani, Founder & CEO.
Being the only Indian company chosen amongst 800 applicants from over 65 countries, Fitternity – led by Mumbai based entrepreneur Neha Motwani – will help put India on Google’s map as testament to the great companies women are building across the globe and from India in particular. Fitternity will receive focused mentoring, feedback, and support from Googlers and Silicon Valley veterans at an exclusive series of talks and workshops, besides being given the crucial 5 minutes to pitch to renowned investors in support of actively raising a Series A round. Google Demo Day will also provide Fitternity an opportunity to connect and collaborate with a global network of cohort ambitious founders who will help each other grow and build a highly dynamic start-up ecosystem worldwide.
