GIGABYTE Wows DiY PC Tech Enthusiasts

Sparked by the creation of a New Indian CPU-Overclocking Record

Hard core PC enthusiasts and lovers flocked in large numbers to be a part of an event that focused exclusively on their dearest subject – the possibilities with and intricacies of the latest PC technologies. Supported by GIGABYTE Technology along with other IT hardware majors, the event, christened PC Extreme, was held on March 21, 2015, in Chennai, at the 2,500 square-foot showroom of The IT Depot, which also happens to be a leading IT and electronic product e-retailer.

The highlight of the event was a demo of extreme overclocking (OC) that culminated in the creation of a new Indian CPU-Z OC record, by Prathamesh Patil, Field Application Engineer, GIGABYTE Technology (India). Patil was successful in achieving a CPU-Z validation of 6554.29 MHz. He achieved this record by using the GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SOC Force motherboard, with an Intel® Core™ i7-4770K processor, and liquid nitrogen (LN2) for cooling. OC is the practice of pushing a PC component to function faster than the manufactured clock frequency. This requires a lot of practice, upgraded skills, dedication and also, a profound passion for the activity.

The OC event was a highly interactive session with Patil fielding a flurry of questions related to the tricks and techniques of OC.

GA-Z97X-SOC Force, which has won several awards from leading technology media worldwide, is a part of GIGABYTE’s Super Overclock (SOC) series, which has played a crucial role in making OC mainstream globally. PC Extreme also gave a unique opportunity to PC enthusiasts to share the limelight, by participating in a PC assembling contest. This gave them a chance to win products from the supporting brands, namely GIGABYTE Technology, AMD, Cooler Master and Adata, along with the host, IT Depot. Named Power PC DiY Contest, this fixture attracted over 40 contestants, amongst which, a schoolboy, Aditya Narayan, took home the first prize, including the GIGABYTE GA-Z97N-WiFi motherboard. The other winners were Mr. Manoj (first runner up whose prizes included the GIGABYTE GA-H81M-DS2 motherboard), and Mr. Suresh (second runner up).
