ESET Launches New Virtual Security Solution

VMware-Based Solution Delivers Superior Protection, Simplified Management of Virtualized Environments

Finally, ESET enters into the virtual security space by launching ESET Virtualization Security, a VMware vShield – based agentless, security solution that protects all virtual machines running on a network. The product is compatible with ESET Remote Administrator 6, ESET’s web-based console, allowing direct drill-down capability to virtual machines for rapid task execution and endpoint security management.

“ESET Virtualization Security was developed to provide our business customers using the VMware vShield Endpoint platform the same high performing antimalware protection ESET is known for,” said Jeff Chen, director of solutions marketing at ESET North America. “Moreover, ESET Virtualization Security is easy to manage from ESET Remote Administrator, which gives IT administrators a single pane of glass to manage both virtual and physical endpoint security from anywhere, anytime.”

As per the release, ESET Virtual Security helps prevent potential AV storms and performance issues by automatically offloading all on-access and on-demand scanning tasks to a centralized scanner inside the ESET Virtualization Security appliance. The solution is available through a flexible licensing system, allowing users to transfer existing licenses when migrating from physical machines to virtual machines (VM) at no extra cost.

At the core of ESET Virtual Security is ESET’s award-winning NOD 32 scanning engine. The technology is known for its low system demands and high speed, which combined leaves more resources available for important applications and processes. ESET Virtual Security is compatible with VMware vSphere 5.0 + with installed VMware vCloud Networking and Security.
