Epson tops as Projector Vendor

Ranked as the No. 1 projector brand in India in H2 FY 2013-14* by CyberMedia Research (CMR) data

Epson has been ranked as the No. 1 projector brand in India in H2 FY 2013-14* by CyberMedia Research (CMR) data.

The research report released earlier this month places Epson in the No. 1 position with a volume market share of 23% and a value market share of 27%. Epson’s share has grown both in volume and value by 2% from H1 FY 2013-14. Epson’s nearest rival has a Value market share of just 15% for the same period. For the full year period of FY 2013-14 Epson has a market share of 21.7% by volume and 26.1% by value.

Epson is also the worldwide leader in projectors with a volume market share of 28.4% in FY 2013**.

As per the CyberMedia Research report the India digital projector market recorded sales of 198,226 units in FY 2013-14. The projector category remains crowded with 13 brands accounting for 95% of all sales made. In this crowded market Epson has increased its volume market share from 13.2% to 23% in a short span of two years. Overall the market saw a de-growth of 25% in H2 FY 2013-14 over the previous half year due to uncertain market conditions. The education sector remained the key demand driver for the segment as per the CMR report. Home theatre projectors saw increasing traction in the year gone by and are estimated to contribute about 3% of overall projector sales.

Commenting on the news Samba Moorthy, Director, Sales & Marketing at Epson India said, “We have been going from strength to strength in the Indian market. We are by far the biggest projector brand in India now, just as we are in the rest of the world. With projectors that offer superior Colour Brightness and with a fantastic range of projectors for corporates, educational institutions and for home we expect to continue to drive rapid growth in this market in the years to come.”
