Women in IT

Adele Beachley, Managing Director, APAC for SOTI Inc,

  • What is your core strength as a leader?

As a leader, I see it as my role to inspire my team to put our customers and partners at the centre of everything we do, collaborate with both our internal teams and partner networks to deliver solutions to our end customers that exceed expectations, and above all “be easy to do business with”.  We need more women in IT.

  • What kind of major decisions have you taken that have changed the future of your organisation?

It is always interesting when one is the first person on the ground in a new market, building new relationships and forging commercial partnerships. I very clearly remember one such market in which the company I was working for at the time needed to ensure there was a partnership established there ahead of our competitor. The Board wanted it. The CEO wanted it. The share price would benefit from the announcement. It came down to the final negotiation. I flew in and there was a large group of very senior people waiting for me. After a few hours of discussion and everything agreed, one new term was introduced. “We will sign now if you give us this”.  It was and still is the craziest request I have ever received in a negotiation in my career, and was something I knew there was absolutely no way I was authorised to agree to. However, I also knew that my company and its Executives trusted me and my judgement.

  • What of your views on the growth of the Indian IT Landscape?

The Indian IT Landscape is one of the most exciting IT Landscapes in world, and growing exponentially. The Indian government has a stated intent to digitally transform the entire country, from government departments, to smart cities, to soil monitoring, to remote diagnostics and patient care, financial literacy, and inclusion to name just a few. When we look directly at the future of the channel amongst Indian enterprises, we quickly recognized that our partners in India are strategic enablers of this business transformation, differentiated customer experiences, seamless workflows, and innovative products and services across industries.
