Epson becomes leading brand in the Indian projector market

Grows from a 21.8% market share in FY16 to 27.6% in FY17

Epson has announced that it is the No.1 brand in the Indian Projector Market as per the latest data published by FutureSource Consulting for FY16-FY17.  Futuresource Quarterly Market Insight Reports have been accepted as the worldwide industry standard for many years. The company registered consistent growth in the projector category with 27.6% market share in terms of unit shipments (a jump of 5.8 % from 21.8% in FY15-16) and 27.2% market share in terms of revenue (which is an increase of 6.1% compared to 21.1 % in FY16).

As per the FutureSource report, the overall market for projectors in India grew 2.9 % from 2,38,463 Units in FY15 to 2,45,568 in FY16. Meanwhile, Epson’s projector sales increased from 51,982 units in FY15 to 67,770 Units in FY16 a growth of 30.3 %.  Futuresource Consulting, market specialists in visual displays for over nineteen years, confirms that Epson is also the Worldwide Projector Market Leader for the past 16 years from Calendar Year 2001 to 2016. Epson had a commanding 35.5% market share in data projectors and 39.9% in Home Theatre Projectors in CY2016 world wide.

While projectors continue to be used for presentation purposes in most corporate conference and meeting rooms, growing demand from the education, SMB and home segments have resulted in the expansion of the projector market in India. The education and home entertainment verticals have been growing at a slightly higher pace when compared to others.  In the education space, Interactive Projectors have been growing rapidly due to the focus on digital learning and on smart classrooms.

According to Epson, the strength of Epson projectors, which has led to it repeatedly emerging the Number 1 Projector Brand in India and worldwide, lies in its revolutionary 3LCD technology. The company says its 3LCD projectors deliver up to three times higher colour brightness than leading competitive projectors.  Epson’s 3LCD engine ensures that users get the highest possible colour light output from the light source, thereby enabling Epson projectors to deliver colour brightness as high as white brightness. This results in bright and colour-accurate images, and smooth projections without colour breakup.

Speaking on the occasion Samba Moorthy, Director-Sales & Marketing, Epson India said, “First introduced in 1989, Epson’s 3LCD technology creates astoundingly beautiful images in bright, natural colour without dither noise or colour breakup.  Consumers are immediately able to recognise the difference when they compare picture quality and colour brightness of projectors and this is driving our sales. In India, we will continue to introduce the best in class product portfolio with innovative features backed by our superior technology and support structure.”

Coupled with high-quality performance, innovative features and technology advancements, Epson’s most recent projectors elevate the user experience with collaboration tools on their interactive projectors, and with 3LCD Reflective laser technology and 4K enhancement for their state-of-the-art home theatres.

Epson believes there is great potential in the education, corporate and SMB segment. The company also sees a lot of growth coming from the concept of digital classrooms and also anticipate that Short throw & ultra-short throw interactive projectors will gain further in popularity this year. Epson has in recent years steadily increased its lineup of projectors and is continuing to invest heavily in developing technologies and products to meet those expanding needs.
