After Ahmedabad and Mumbai, the “5 City SME Connect” event on Optimizing IT Infrastructure by SMEs by Schneider Electric took place in Chennai. Targeted at SME organizations, the highlight of the event is to interpret the SMEs’ technology challenges and mitigate those challenges with a systematic approach.

Everyone knows that SMEs are handicapped by a limited set of resources and skillsets, therefore; there must be right architectural approach to mitigate those challenges. We are living in a connected world and in order to respond to the uncertainties, we need to have optimized infrastructure. Power, cooling, racking and stacking being the basic requirement of any data centre, there has to be enough importance to these pieces so that the entire datacentre caters to the new age needs.

Keeping the challenges in the mind there was a panel discussion on Optimizing Infrastructure to cater to the new age needs. The key panellists include Vijay Anand GM – IT, Matrimony, Senthinathan, IT Infra lead, Royal Enfield, Gyan Prakash, DGM IT, Hofincons Infotech & Industrial Services, MA Nayagam, GM IT, Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank.

On this occasion Manish Gokhale, Director Business Development, IT Division, Schneider Electric said “As the industry leader in integrated physical infrastructure and software, APC by Schneider Electric create solutions that help IT professionals anticipate and protect their information and data. Major market and technology trends such as the Internet of Things (IoT) have driven exponential growth in the amount of data that needs to be captured, stored, analyzed and connected. That data is being gathered and analyzed to create both business value and competitive advantage. By 2018, 40% of IoT-created data will be stored, processed, analyzed, and acted upon close to, or at the edge of the network. Cloud computing is a solution explored and adopted by small and medium scale businesses. But Cloud has certain inherent limitations : Congestion, Cost and Regulations. So what do we do? We need to put edge computing solutions closer to users, data, and “things”. Edge solutions address the key issues of a pure cloud architecture as the Internet of Things trend evolves. APC by Schneider Electric brings a complete portfolio Micro DC which is suitable for SME requirements from single rack to multi racks which provides critical power and cooling solutions for the network edge. We call it certainty in a connected world”.

Sanjay Mohapatra, Editor, SME Channels said “the SMEs are becoming the lifeline for any country and for India, it is no exception. With make in India in place, SMEs’ role is becoming very important. Besides, the government has already said that 20% of government and PSU’s procurement would happen from the SME sector. Therefore, it is important for small and mid-size organizations to adopt new technologies so that they can remain as relevant to the market.”

The rest of the two cities viz. Delhi and Bangalore will be covered on 14th and 21st July respectively.
