Skybox Security Appoints Tal Sheffer as Chief Technology Officer

The new CTO to focus on enhancing the Skybox Security Suite to meet emerging requirements in security operations, analytics and reporting (SOAR)

In a major executive movement, Skybox Security, a global leader in security analytics, has recently named longtime management team member and engineering lead Tal Sheffer as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Shefferwill report to Moshe Raab, vice president of Research and Development. In his new role, he will drive technology strategy and innovations to enrich Skybox Security Suite, expanding its solutions to help security professional address their biggest challenges in security operations, analytics and reporting (SOAR), including:

  • An increasingly complexIT environment, driven by trends towards virtualized and cloud networks and growth of the Internet of Things
  • Transformations in business approaches, such as a growing concern among executives and board members who oversee their organization’s risk posture and compliance against new security regulations
  • The continued sophistication of threats and organized attackers in the face of a serious cybersecurity skills shortage

“I’m thrilled to be taking on the role of CTO, especially when the industry is undergoing such change,” said Sheffer. “It’s an exciting time to be at Skybox — our solutions are being deployed by global organizations and recognized by industry leaders as best-of-breed. And with business and technology rapidly evolving, everyone is struggling to gain visibility of their attack surface. We will continue to innovate, so we can uniquely give security pros that visibility in context — even as their network evolves — so they can prioritize resources.”

A member of the company’s founding team, Sheffer has been driving research and development initiatives at Skybox since its inception. He led the initial development of the majority of products in the SkyboxSecurity Suite and has guided the company’s platform evolution since last decade. A true entrepreneur, Sheffer is now directing technological innovation for the Skybox product line, as the company continues to expand its solutions and use cases for SOAR.

“Tal has been instrumental in shaping the Skybox you see today,” said CEO Gidi Cohen. “He was part of the R&D team that took us from one product to the Skybox Security Suite, now recognized as the most comprehensive set of security management solutions in the industry. Moving forward, he’ll push this company even harder, spearheading our technology evolution to ensure that we continue to help organizations make sense of their increasingly complex IT environments.”
