F-Secure, TCL Join Forces

F-Secure is teaming up with TCL to help Android users take control of their online privacy. A new agreement between F-Secure and TCL will see F-Secure’s award-winning Freedome VPN preinstalled on TCL’s Android smartphones and tablets.

Freedome is a personal VPN that lets people encrypt their communications over public Wi-Fi, block online tracking attempts and malicious websites, and change their virtual location. Freedome won the 2015 Meffy Award for Consumer Trust last year, establishing it as a leading privacy protection product that helps people take control of their online privacy.*

“People everywhere are becoming more concerned with how they expose their personal information while communicating online,” said Jedi, the Vice President of TCL Corporation and the President of Internet Business Group. “They’re talking about things like encryption, and want to know what they should be doing to prevent others from snooping on what they do online. Freedome is a user-friendly way to address these concerns, and we’re thrilled to have the app preinstalled on our Android devices.”

According to Kirill Zelenski, F-Secure Director, Business Development, the deal is indicative of a greater appreciation amongst device manufacturers that security and privacy are gaining traction as things consumers want in their mobile phones. “Everyone knows mobile devices and services are becoming more popular, and so securing these devices is becoming more important. Freedome has security features that protect both people’s devices and communications, so packaging it with devices is a great way to add value to any smartphone or tablet.”

Freedome is now available on TCL and Alcatel Android phones and tablets sold worldwide (except China) as a “Featured App”. The pre-installation includes a free two-week trial period for the VPN.
