Genrobotics

The win not only signals the growing global credibility of Indian robotics engineering but also marks a significant step in the company’s evolution from a social-impact startup into a global deep-tech exporter.

In a major global endorsement for India’s deep-tech capabilities, Kerala-based robotics innovator Genrobotics has secured a prestigious contract from PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency after outperforming more than 600 international competitors. The win not only signals the growing global credibility of Indian robotics engineering but also marks a significant step in the company’s evolution from a social-impact startup into a global deep-tech exporter.

A Global Validation for Indian Robotics

India’s deep-tech ecosystem received a powerful boost after Genrobotics emerged victorious in a highly competitive international evaluation conducted by PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency.

The contract will see advanced robotic systems from the Indian firm deployed in sewer and water management operations in Singapore. The selection followed rigorous technical validation by a government-appointed expert committee that assessed engineering capabilities, reliability in hazardous environments, and operational performance.

According to the company, winning against more than 600 global competitors highlights the growing technological strength of Indian robotics platforms in mission-critical infrastructure management.

From Social Innovation to Global Deep-Tech Leader

Commenting on the achievement, Vimal Govind M K, CEO and Co-Founder of Genrobotics, said the contract represents a turning point for Indian robotics on the global stage.

He noted that the company’s technologies were specifically engineered for extreme and hazardous environments, and the endorsement from Singapore validates their safety, precision, and operational efficiency.

The win underscores Genrobotics’ transformation from a socially driven innovation tackling manual scavenging into a diversified robotics powerhouse addressing global infrastructure challenges.

“Winning this contract against 600 international firms proves that Indian-made robotics are globally competitive and ready to lead the world’s infrastructure transition. Our technology was engineered for the most complex environments, and Singapore’s validation confirms that our solutions meet the highest global standards for safety and efficiency.”

– Vimal Govind M K, CEO and Co-Founder at Genrobotics

Expanding Global Footprint

Singapore now joins a growing list of international markets adopting Genrobotics’ technologies. Since 2022, the company has maintained a national-scale partnership with Indah Water Konsortium in Malaysia and has established deployments across the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

In India, the company’s robotic systems are already deployed across 23 states and more than 100 cities, serving over 140 clients globally. This extensive real-world deployment has helped refine its robotics platforms for reliability in mission-critical environments.

Building a Multi-Sector Robotics Ecosystem

Genrobotics’ global expansion strategy is anchored around three high-growth technology verticals designed to address critical global challenges such as labour shortages, aging infrastructure, and workplace safety.

  1. Cleantech & Mechanised Sanitation
At the heart of this vertical is Bandicoot, widely recognised as the world’s first robotic scavenger. The technology eliminates the need for humans to enter toxic sewer environments. In Singapore, the deployment will focus on robotic sewer inspection and cleaning to support smarter and more sustainable urban water management.
  2. Healthcare Robotics
Genrobotics is also expanding into rehabilitation and assistive robotics to tackle global shortages of clinical professionals. The systems are designed to support AI-enabled medical care and rehabilitation, particularly in aging societies.
  3. High-Risk Industrial Automation
The company is developing specialised robotic systems for hazardous environments such as the oil and gas industry, where autonomous machines can perform high-risk tasks while reducing human exposure to dangerous conditions.

Powered by ‘Make in India’ Innovation

Originally known for its pioneering sanitation robot Bandicoot, Genrobotics has now evolved into a diversified robotics ecosystem spanning healthcare, industrial automation, and strategic high-risk robotics.

Backed by six granted Indian patents and more than 21 pending filings, the company’s technology stack is built on rugged, cost-efficient robotics engineered for the toughest operational environments—reinforcing India’s growing position in the global deep-tech landscape.
